FINAL CIRCLE Vison Mission Strategy 3
FINAL CIRCLE Vison Mission Strategy 3
Our transportation department currently has a fleet of 34 buses, which now includes three propane-powered buses. Our bus drivers transport approximately 1,500 students on 32 routes covering just over 2,400 miles daily throughout our district. We consider student safety and security on our buses as an extension of our buildings. Therefore, we place a high focus on processes and features to ensure we take every measure to make our transportation as safe and reliable as possible.

GPS - as a safety measure, each of our buses are equipped with GPS which allows us to track each bus along the route. In the event there is an accident, natural disaster, or other events that require a re-route, pick up, or drop off delay; we are able to see that from our transportation office and communicate with our drivers and parents as needs arise. This also helps to confirm our snow routes are correct and efficient.

Security cameras - as a way to increase safety for students and drivers, all buses have security cameras installed. Cameras are able to capture the interior and points of the exterior of the bus. If there is ever a question of behavior or conduct while riding the bus, our transportation office personnel have access to the video feed.
Maintenance within our district ranges from day to day operations of custodial care within each building, to the larger maintenance efforts throughout the district, and includes daily maintenance and necessary repair of the bus fleet. Operating around the clock and year-round, the support staff of Madison Consolidated Schools goes above and beyond to maintain buildings, grounds, and buses to ensure a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors on all of our campus grounds.

The five-year preventative maintenance plan for the time period of 2014 - 2019, outlines the process by which we can better maintain all buildings and facilities in order to better manage resources and equipment.
As one of our largest teams, Operations and Facilities is responsible for the scope of daily district-wide operations.  Teams include areas of maintenance and custodial care of all district buildings, grounds, and athletic venues, food service, transportation maintenance, as well as, bus transportation logistics and maintenance.

Given the vast scope, this particular team consistently strives to manage priorities and resources with a constant focus on continuous improvement in order to manage resources and work as efficiently as possible.
